This 1938 BMW 327 cabriolet is one of fewer than 1,600 convertibles manufactured between 1937 and 1941 and was delivered from the factory on July 5, 1938. Chassis 73330 is said to have been imported to the US circa the 1950s and was purchased around 1990 by a California resident. The car underwent a refurbishment over the ensuing three years that included a repaint in two-tone yellow, and, after the project’s completion, it appeared at the 1993 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. It was then purchased in 1994 by an owner who had the 1,971cc inline-six rebuilt to factory configuration before returning the car to Pebble Beach in 1996. The car later spent time in Japan before returning to the US and being purchased by the selling dealer in 2022. Features include twin Solex downdraft carburetors, a four-speed manual transmission, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, independent front suspension with a transverse leaf spring, body-color 16” wheels, a 12-volt electrical system, a tan convertible top, and tan leather upholstery over 2+2 seating. This 327 is now offered in Los Angeles, California, with photos from the 1990s refurbishment, copies of articles featuring the car, an FIA Historic Regularity pass. Clean title in hand!
